Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick, Lipgloss, and Creamy Lipstick Haul With Review and Swatches

Dose of Colors ALWAYS brings the fire when it comes to pigmented, long lasting, and creamy lipstick/lipgloss formula's! Being I fell in love with the brand back in March, I decided to purchase a few more colors that would be complementary to my skin tone along with some other formulas such as their opaque lip glosses for testing purposes.  You loves know I am ALL for vegan products that not only benefit MYSELF but the Earth as well-- some key claims Dose of Colors makes about their products happen to be, "vegan, cruelty free, gluten free, paraben free". If any of you are unaware, Parabens are a class of WIDELY used preservatives in cosmetics (can cause an allergic reaction to some), and gluten, yes the substance in food, is actually a "toxin" in cosmetics that can cause certain DISEASES. Lipstick is a main source of digestion for cosmetics, even the TINIEST bit being ingested through licking your lips or product flaking can cause a reaction, I don't believe you'd want an artificial chain of toxic sugar going into your system...right? Right! The good news is Dose of Color's lipsticks are flake free and smell absolutely amazing, be sure to avoid eating oily or greasy foods, this will wear down the product and turn the creamy delight into a patchy mess. ALL OF THE  PRODUCTS PRESENTED ABOVE AND BELOW WERE PURCHASED WITH MY OWN MONEY, therefore this review can be trusted :)! Be sure to check out my March haul for the other batch of liquid lipsticks and creamy lipsticks I purchased, they're Spring/Summer forward.

Let's start off with the swatches! Pictured above is the full out arm swatching followed by the shades on my bare lips below. LEFT TO RIGHT: Creamy Lipstick in Karma; Lipgloss's in Wild Child + Bellini; Matte Liquid Lipstick's in Chocolate Wasted, Merlot, and Truffle. A major concerning factor for MOST beauties purchasing online is if the shade is true to the site photos!  In the case of Dose of Colors they do cover themselves by stating "Colors may vary, the results of our colors may vary due to a number of factors including but not limited to; monitor resolution settings, lighting & skin tone, etc." Though it is really no excuse for a shade to be a different sheen than seen online, I discovered all the shades looked identical to the online photos, the only difference being some had more of a toned down hue than others. For example, Karma is supposedly a neon coral shade with tons of red undertones-- from the site photo it looks like a flat out orange, however in real life (view the first photo from the second row) it has such a STUNNING vibrant orange/coral sheen that glided on like butter thanks to the satin finish!  I am pretty positive we've all been there with lipsticks that have such hideous textures, there was no tuggin' here honey buns. One thing to remember when applying this lipstick is there will be minor stains left behind, this serves the same principle for the liquid lippies and glosses! Speaking of liquid lipsticks, if by any chance you're seeking a comparison to the more popular Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks (my favorite brand for lippies), simply said these are MORE fragrant, but hold the same creamy consistency as ABH and retail for $18.00 which is $2.00 cheaper than ABH sticks'.

Interestingly so the lipgloss left the toughest stain to remove! According to the website these vibrant glosses have uniquely smooth formulas and intensive pigment, BOTH of which are very true. Most glosses have that sticky, plumping, and gross feel that makes us just want to remove it ASAP, these however felt like a "silk", moreover VERY comfortable on the lips! The ingredients presented in Wild Child go as follows, "Helianthus Annuss (Sunflower) Seed oil, Polybutene, Octyldodecanol, Castor (Ricinus Communis) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Quatemium - 18 Hectorite, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Trihydroxystearin, Phenoxyethanol, Propylene carbonate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Vanillin, Tocopherol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77499, CI 77491, CI 77492), Tin Oxide (CI 77861), Red 28 Lake (CI 45410), FD&C Yellow No 5 Aluminum Lake (CI 19140:1), FD&C Red 7 Calcium Lake (CI 15850:1), FD&C Blue No 1 Aluminum Lake (CI 42090:2), FD&C Yellow No. 6 Aluminum Lake (CI 15985), D&C Red 27 Aluminum Lake (CI 45410:2), D&C Red No 6 (CI 15850)".  While this product does NOT contain the most natural ingredients around, let's face it 20 plus ingredients is not normal, it does pose for a good alternative for MORE EXPENSIVE glosses such as Buxom's Lip Polish (very popular, but is NOT Vegan)! I prefer this applicator tip anyways, it is VERY similar to the ABH gloss applicator tip, a flat doe that helps sculpt the lips perfectly, plus the fact it picks up JUST the right amount of gloss without "overdoing" it.  Bellini is a SUPER unique shade, in fact someone went as far as asking me if the color was apart of Kylie Jenner's new metallic liquid lipstick line! The picture on the website is a tad off in my opinion as this is opaque but not "filling", if you look at the photo closely you'll be able to see the tint underneath of my natural lip color...not the best finish however it is quite stunning when layered twice over.

To the left is a comprehensive photo showing each lip shade followed by the shade on myself in selfie format, for those curious my skin tone is Y117-Y23 in Makeup Forever products and NW20 for Mac products! The shade that surprised me the most is Merlot specifically because it is a cool toned red-- these shades tend to look HORRIBLE on me, however just as a Mac representative  once explained to me, it is the contrast that makes the shade pop.  For instance, on Christmas we hang up decorations ranging from red, green, white, and blue, all of which are VERY clashy in tone.  The blue-red offsprings off of my neutral tones and creates a perfect melody thats athletically pleasing to the human eye, sounds totally crazy but it tis' true!  As far as pigment goes you loves know off the spot these deserve a 10/10, heck they were so hard to remove I still have pink tinged lips a day after; for consistency I'd rate them a 9/10 as the formula dries rather quick so you MUST work fast to lather up the liquid lipsticks; in terms of how "comfortable" the formulas were on my lips they deserve an easy 9.5/10, with the gloss holding the bunch back by .5 due to the stain; and lastly for freaking amazingness a 11/10, go treat yourself to some Dose of Colors ;)!
